  • The Ledge #625: Second Quarter Recap

Besides the monthly new release episodes, another regular feature of this show is the “quarterly recap”, where I play tracks from the best albums released over the last three months. This month features a wide variety of rock, punk, power pop, Americana, and a few other sub-genres. Everybody should be able to find a new favorite record in this expanded episode.

Before we get to the highlights of the quarter, though, I’ve got a tribute to arguably the greatest rock and roller my state has ever produced. Myron Lee, the leader of Myron Lee & The Caddies, passed away just days before his 83rd birthday. Along with airing a handful of his late 50s/early 60s hits, I come clean about the simple fact that for the longest time I was completely unaware of his true rockin’ sound. In fact, it was due to an appearance on another Real Punk Radio broadcast that I finally understood that rockabilly and punk fanatics have been collecting his singles for decades! RIP Myron!

Also, please head to YouTube and subscribe to our channel – Public Domain Classics 888. We have close to 300 classic films from over 110 years of releases!

  • The Ledge #491: New Releases (Pt. 1)

It’s almost a given that if Rum Bar Records puts out a sampler, that month’s Ledge “New Release” show will be a two parter, and this month is no exception. Thanks to “Rocktober II”, the massive 38 track collection of new releases, old faves, and other fun selections, there just isn’t enough time to go through all the goodies.

But we also have fabulous new tracks from our friends at Red On Red Records, Big Stir Records, Stardumb Records, and Spaghetty Town Records. There are also new tracks by our friends Sonny Vincent, Pavid Vermin, and others. And there’s a great new covers record by The Queers!

I would love it if every listener bought at least one record I played on either of these shows. These great artists deserve to be compensated for their hard work, and every purchase surely helps not only pay their bills but fund their next set of wonderful songs. And if you buy these records directly from the artist or label, please let them know you heard these tunes on The Ledge! Let them know who is giving them promotion!

  • The Ledge #463: Songs About The Ramones

As I state at the beginning of the show, the initial idea for this theme came from the plethora of recent songs that mention The Ramones in the title, both individually and as a group. Add to that a few faves from the past, along with some great suggestions from social media, and I had a fantastic playlist to air tonight. And since the band was also known to write songs about their lives, there’s even a set of Ramones covers of songs of that sort.

  • The Ledge #441: Fave Records of Summer 2020

The calendar may have a different definition, but summer to me has always been the months of June, July, and August. With that in mind, since tonight was my last show for August I decided to put together a show of nothing but my favorite new records from the summer of 2020.

And as I tend to always say, it’s been a fabulous period for new tunes. There’s all kinds of stuff guaranteed for any type of rock and roll fan. From elderly artists such as Bob Dylan to the teen rock of Hinds, it’s a summer of punk, garage, indie, power pop, post-punk, and Americana. In other words, Ledge music.
